^Looking west along Interstate 41, with Interstates 43 and 894 along for the ride, approaching the point where Interstate 43 diverges, October 2022.
In Wisconsin, Interstate 41 is an Interstate designation that was slapped onto a portion of US Route 41 within the state. This is because a large proportion of US Route 41's mileage in Wisconsin is along freeways. Interstate 41 runs from Green Bay to Appleton to Oshkosh to Fond du Lac to Milwaukee, and for some reason, it continues along Interstates 894 and 94 southward to the Illinois state line. There is no reason for Interstate 41 to overlap with Interstate 94 from Milwaukee to Illinois, because there is no future in which Interstate 41 continues southward into Illinois.
