Wisconsin Highway 101 is a short north-south highway in the northeast corner of Wisconsin. The northern end of Wisconsin Highway 101 is in Florence, which is truly in the far northeast corner of the state. US Route 2 and US Route 141, following the same route, cross out of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan into a lobe of northeastern Wisconsin's shape. They swoop down from the northwest and curve eastward to return right back into Michigan. During the US Highways' fleeting moment in Wisconsin, they pass through the town of Florence and catch the northern terminus of Wisconsin Highway 101. This point of beginning for Highway 101 is also the point of beginning for Wisconsin Highway 70, and Highways 70 and 101 both start by moving southward out of Florence. After about two miles, the two state highways split apart, with Highway 101 continuing southward. Twenty miles farther south, Wisconsin Highway 101 ends at US Route 8 in Armstrong Creek. This is in the northeast corner of Forest County's eastern section.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 101 shows the northern end marker, which is shown alongside the end marker of Wisconsin Highway 70. This dual-action highway endpoint is at the dual-action US highway combination of US Route 2 and US Route 141, in Florence. This photo was taken in December 2017 as I was looking for route marker photo opportunities in northeastern Wisconsin. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
