^Wisconsin 116 continues east away from Wisconsin 21 in Omro, February 2022.
Wisconsin Highway 116 is a short route in Winnebago County, in areas west of Lake Winnebago. On maps, it is shaped like a backwards "7", or a capital Greek letter "gamma". It begins at Wisconsin Highway 91 in the tiny hamlet of Waukau, which is several miles west of Oshkosh. From there, Wisconsin Highway 116 heads north through Omro, where it meets Wisconsin Highway 21. North of Omro, Wisconsin Highway 116 bends eastward so it can reach Winneconne, where it can provide a crossing of the Wolf River between Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winneconne. Wisconsin Highway 116 continues east for a couple of miles out of Winneconne so it can end at US Route 45.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 116 shows a trailblazer that appears just as the highway bends from northward to eastward so it can enter Winneconne. Specifically, this scene comes from the junction between Highway 116 and County Road B. This photo was taken in February 2022 during my trip around east-central Wisconsin.
