Wisconsin Highway 138 is a short route in south-central Wisconsin, helping people access the city of Stoughton. The route is shaped like the number "7" if viewed on a map. The northwestern end is at an interchange with US Route 14 in Oregon. From this point of beginning, Wisconsin Highway 138 heads straight east to Stoughton. In Stoughton, US Route 51 comes from the north, and it turns easterly along Highway 138, long enough to tell the state highway, "I'll take it from here." US Route 51 continues east beyond Stoughton, stealing the thunder from the state highway. But Wisconsin Highway 138 has another mission: cutting south from Stoughton to meet Wisconsin Highway 59 in Cooksville. Highway 138 completes that mission, and the intersection at Highway 59 marks the conclusion of the route.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 138 shows guide signage along US Route 14, using by northbound travelers making their way along the US highway. The northwestern beginning of Highway 138 is accessed via an exit to the right. This photo was taken in August 2015 as I was navigating toward the Twin Cities. Back to the Wisconsin main page.
