^Looking eastward along Wisconsin Highway 156 as it continues east from its intersection with Wisconsin Highway 187, February 2022.
Wisconsin Highway 156 is a very rural east-west route in eastern Wisconsin, west of Green Bay. The story of this route begins at Wisconsin Highway 29, the freeway moving northwest out of Green Bay. When that highway gets 8 miles northwest of Green Bay, an interchange leads to a surface road connecting to the eastern beginning of Highway 156. Wisconsin Highway 156 goes westward from here, setting out for the faraway community of Clintonville. That will be the final destination for Highway 156, but it's 26 miles from the start of the route. Along the route's journey, it passes through the unincorporated place of Navarino, and it passes by the Navarino State Wildlife Area. Soon after, it meets the northern end of Wisconsin Highway 187. Eight miles later, Wisconsin Highway 156 ends at Wisconsin Highway 22 on the north side of Clintonville.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 156 shows the first westbound trailblazer for those leaving the interchange with Wisconsin Highway 29. This photo was taken in February 2022, as I was on a trip to northeastern parts of Wisconsin. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
