^Wisconsin 162 continues north from the west end of its concurrency with Wisconsin 16, July 2025.
Wisconsin Highway 162 is a north-south highway in western Wisconsin whose southernmost piece curls westward toward the Mississippi River. It is found in areas east and south of La Crosse. The northern end is at Wisconsin Highway 71 southeast of Melrose; those reaching the northern end of Highway 162 can take Highway 71 northwest to Melrose. From this northern terminus, Highway 162 moves southerly. As it is about to reach Bangor, it meets Wisconsin Highway 16, which it joins eastward for a short distance. Soon, Highway 162 is heading south through Bangor and past Interstate 90. Later on, Highway 162 jogs west on Highway 33 for a short while, and it jogs west for a short distance along US Route 14 in Coon Valley. At Coon Valley, Highway 162 splits from US Route 14 to continue south, but after several miles, it curves toward the west. Highway 162 passes through Chaseburg on its westward portion, and finally, it ends at Highway 35 in Stoddard, a village along the Mississippi River.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 162 is a reassurance marker near Bangor. This reassurance marker along Wisconsin Highway 16 tells westbound travelers that Highway 162 has joined from the south. Shortly, a bit farther west of here, Highway 162 will turn off of Wisconsin Highway 16 to continue north. This photo was taken during the western Wisconsin trip of July 2025.
