Wisconsin Highway 178 is a short highway following the Chippewa River, in the "Indian Head" of western Wisconsin. The highway begins at Wisconsin Highway 29 on the east side of Chippewa Falls. From here, Wisconsin Highway 178 heads northeastward, pursuing a more upstream location along the Chippewa River. The final upstream location reached by Highway 178 is the small town of Cornell, where Highway 178 ends at Wisconsin Highway 64.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 178 comes from the southwestern end of the route, at Wisconsin Highway 29. Just east of US Route 53, Wisconsin Highway 29 heads northeastward to an interchange. Those heading northeastward can use an onramp, where they will see this sign indicating that Wisconsin Highway 178 begins with a turn to the right. This photo was taken on the way home from the Twin Cities in August 2015. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
