^Wisconsin 187 starts its southward journey at Wisconsin 156, February 2022.
Wisconsin Highway 187 is a short north-south highway in eastern Wisconsin. It stems northward from Shiocton. Highway 187 covers a small area, and it's an area that's west of Green Bay and south of Shawano. The story of Highway 187 begins as Wisconsin Highway 76 heads northward out of Oshkosh. But when Highway 76 gets to Shiocton, it decides to divert westward to the village of Bear Creek. In Shiocton, Wisconsin Highway 187 takes over for Highway 76 as a way to help travelers move northward. With that in mind, Wisconsin Highway 187 starts at Wisconsin Highway 54, just east of Highway 76, in Shiocton. The highway goes northward for fourteen miles, neglecting to pass through any towns. Fourteen miles later, Highway 187 ends at Wisconsin Highway 156 near the Navarino State Wildlife Area. That northern terminus is about 13 miles south of Wisconsin Highway 29 and Shawano.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 187 shows the northern end marker for the route, positioned alongside a junction marker for Wisconsin Highway 156. Northbound travelers see these signs as they approach the northern end of the route. Soon, those travelers will have to switch over to Highway 187. Or maybe they continue forward on County K toward Shawano! This photo was taken during the eastern Wisconsin trip of February 2022. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
