^Wisconsin 193 starts off toward the west from its intersection with Wisconsin 80, October 2016.
Wisconsin Highway 193 is a very tiny connector road in southwestern Wisconsin, positioned just north of Muscoda. On the north side of the westward-flowing Wisconsin River, Wisconsin Highway 60, an east-west highway, intersects Wisconsin Highway 80, at the north end of a bridge used by Wisconsin Highway 80 to reach Muscoda. From this intersection, Wisconsin Highway 60 goes west, then north, then west. Also, Wisconsin Highway 80 goes north away from this intersection, then west, then north. These S-curves in the two routes make it inefficient to follow a route moving between the western and northern legs of the intersection. That's why Wisconsin Highway 193 was created around the northwestern periphery of the intersection. North of that junction between Highways 60 and 80 , Highway 193 begins at Highway 80 and heads west. It soon turns south to meet Wisconsin Highway 60 west of the junction with Highway 80. All of this verbose explanation is just to illustrate how Wisconsin Highway 193 is just a tiny shortcut between Highway 80 north and Highway 60 west.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 193 comes from the intersection with Wisconsin Highway 60. Westbound travelers on Wisconsin Highway 60, who are moving away from Highway 80 and the bridge to Muscoda, will see this sign at the intersection with Wisconsin Highway 193's southwestern extent. I took this photo meandering toward northern Iowa, passing through parts of southwestern Wisconsin on the way. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
