^Wisconsin 241 continues south beyond Wisconsin 100 in Oak Creek, July 2018.
Wisconsin Highway 241 is a north-south highway pointing radially southward out of central Milwaukee. It is a vestige of a former alignment of US Route 41, and nothing is more indicative of its vestigial nature than its nonsensical northern endpoint. Wisconsin DOT didn't want to maintain the roadway north of Forest Home Avenue, so the northern extent of Highway 241 is at Forest Home Avenue, which carries Wisconsin Highway 24. At the intersection of Forest Home Avenue and 27th Street, the southern and southwestern legs are state highways, and the other two legs are not. The southern leg is the northern start of Wisconsin Highway 241, which heads south along 27th Street. It continues straight south for 13 miles before merging with Interstate 94 and US Route 41 in Oak Creek. This is how Highway 241 ends.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 241 comes from its intersection with Wisconsin Highway 100. Those moving westward along Highway 100 use this guide assembly to navigate this intersection in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. This photo was taken on a quick trip to southeastern Wisconsin in July 2018.
