Wisconsin Highway 253 is a short northwest-southeast connector between US Route 53 and the heart of Spooner, Wisconsin. One mile south of downtown Spooner and Wisconsin Highway 70, Wisconsin Highway 253 begins at US Route 63. Highway 253 heads straight toward the southeast, refusing to bend or curve for eight miles. It arcs slightly eastward to meet an intersection with US Route 53, a high-speed four-lane highway. This intersection is the southeastern end of Wisconsin Highway 253.

My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 253 comes from the northwestern end in Spooner. Northbound travelers on US Route 53 encounter this guide assembly and this intersection as they enter Spooner from the south. The guide assembly explains that Wisconsin Highway 253 is accessed via an upcoming turn to the right. This photo was taken in July 2025 during my trip around northwestern Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
