^Looking north from the intersection with Route 11, where Racine meets Mount Pleasant, November 2023.
Wisconsin Highway 31 is a north-south highway in Racine and Kenosha Counties. As Wisconsin Highway 32 heads southeastward into Racine from Milwaukee, Wisconsin Highway 31 splits from Highway 32 into a southward alignment. Wisconsin Highway 31 stays somewhat inland compared to Wisconsin Highway 32 's trajectory, which is right through the centers of Racine and of Kenosha. It heads southward through these suburban areas, lined with commercial developments, until it reaches the Illinois border. Wisconsin Highway 31 is about 23 miles long, and it becomes Illinois Route 131 after it crosses the state line.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 31 is seen by westbound travelers on Wisconsin Highway 158 as they encounter the intersection between the two routes. This sign faces east on the northeast corner of the intersection on the west side of Kenosha. This photo was taken during a short drive around southeastern Wisconsin in July 2018.
