^Wisconsin 58 makes its way pushing westward through LaValle, Wisconsin, July 2025.
Wisconsin Highway 58 is a north-south highway in Juneau, Sauk, and Richland Counties. This is in a region of Wisconsin at the eastern extent of the rugged Driftless Region, west of Madison and west of Wisconsin Dells. The southern beginning of Highway 58 is at a northwest-southeast piece of US Route 14, just southeast of Richland Center. Highway 58 heads northeasterly through the hills from this point, heading for Cazenovia and La Valle. It forms a short concurrency with Wisconsin Highway 33 in La Valle, and then it splits off toward the north. Next, Highway 58 reaches Mauston, and it winds its way through town via short stints along Wisconsin Highway 82 and US Route 12. It passes under Interstate 90 and Interstate 94 (concurrent with each other) with no interchange, but a short jaunt eastward on Wisconsin Highway 82 provides connectivity to the Interstate if travelers want that. Highway 58 leaves Mauston angled straight toward the north. This straight northern section is the last section of Highway 58, which is cut off by Wisconsin Highway 80 south of Necedah. Highway 80 comes from the southeast and angles northward from this point, so it effectively takes over as the northward highway.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 58 is a guide marker along the westbound lanes of Wisconsin Highway 82 in Mauston. Wisconsin Highway 82's westbound traffic will join Wisconsin Highway 58 southward to continue on Highway 82 west. But this sign was for people like me, trying to turn northward onto Highway 58 instead. This photo was taken in August 2020 as I was seeking out Wisconsin Highway 58 so I could move north toward Ashland!
