^The first northbound trailblazer seen along Wisconsin 85 in Durand.
Wisconsin Highway 85 is a short highway in western Wisconsin, between Eau Claire and Durand. These two cities are also connected in that the Chippewa River flows through both of them. Wisconsin Highway 85 parallels the course of the river, staying just south of the river's position. The highway starts at Wisconsin Highway 37 just south of Eau Claire, and it goes westward and southwestward from there. After about twenty miles, Wisconsin Highway 85 approaches the town of Durand. The roadway reached the center of that town a few miles later, and it ends there. At the southwestern terminus, US Route 10 runs east-west, but Wisconsin Highway 25 also comes from the west to continue south. Wisconsin Highway 25 takes over the roadway and continues farther south.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 85 shows the first northbound trailblazer seen by those turning off of US Route 10 or Wisconsin Highway 25. This scene shows the southern beginning of Wisconsin Highway 85. This photo was taken in July 2025 during my trip around western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
