Wisconsin Highway 92 is a fairly short rural highway skirting around the southern and southwestern sides of the Madison area. It runs between Mount Horeb and Brooklyn, serving Belleville along the way. The western beginning of Wisconsin Highway 92 is in the city center of Mount Horeb, at an intersection also involving Wisconsin Highway 78 and a business alignment of US Route 18. At this point of origin, Wisconsin Highway 92 is pointed toward the south, and its first recourse is to cross under the main freeway alignment of US Route 18. Along the eastern fringes of the Driftless Region, Wisconsin Highway 92 moves toward the southeast. It eventually reaches Wisconsin Highway 69 and turns toward the east into Belleville. There, Highway 92 splits from Wisconsin Highway 69. It jogs south, heads east, and jogs back north into Brooklyn. It meets the north end of Wisconsin Highway 104 in Brooklyn, and moves just a bit farther east to end at US Route 14.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 92 shows the trailblazer welcoming drivers to the eastern beginning of the route. Those disembarking from US Route 14 to head toward Brooklyn will see this sign. This photo was taken in August 2015 as part of a trip to the Twin Cities. Back to the Wisconsin main page.
