Ohio State Route 120 runs east-west near the Michigan border. In fact, sometimes it's crossing into Michigan, at the west end of the state highway. where the westerly course nudges northwesterly over the state line. The road, much farther west, emerges from Michigan into Indiana, where it is once again a state highway (see Indiana State Road 120). In Ohio, though, it runs into Toledo from this Michigan border crossing near Morenci, Michigan. The road becoming Ohio Route 120 heads east-southeasterly out of Morenci, crossing into Ohio after a couple of miles. At this crossing, Ohio Route 120 starts off to head through Lyons to Metamora. At Metamora, Ohio Route 120 turns southerly onto Ohio Route 64. In the tiny hamlet of Assumption, Ohio Route 120 turns easterly onto US Route 20. It follows US Route 20 into the Toledo metropolitan area. After meeting an interchange with Interstate 475, US Route 20 turns southerly toward another eastward alignment. This leaves Ohio Route 120 alone to continue east on Central Avenue into Toledo. After crossing US Route 24, Ohio Route 120 turns southeasterly down Cherry Street. It follows Cherry Street to its eastern end at Ohio Route 65 (the ironically-named "Summit Street", though it's at the bottom of the Maumee River valley) in downtown Toledo.
My photo of Ohio State Route 120 signage comes from the intersection with US Route 24 (Detroit Avenue) in Toledo. Northbound travelers on US Route 24 will see this sign assembly on a signal mast when they encounter the 4-way intersection with Ohio Route 120 (Central Avenue). This photo was taken on the detour to Toledo from Portsmouth and West Virginia, in October 2016. Back to Ohio Routes 100-199. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
