Ohio State Route 247 runs south out of Hillsboro to the Ohio River. It is found in Highland and Adams Counties, in southwestern Ohio. In Hillsboro, Ohio Route 73 and US Route 62 run southerly together through the center of town. Soon, Ohio Route 73 splits from US Route 62 toward the southeast; one block after that split, Ohio Route 247 gets its start, stemming southerly from Ohio Route 73. Whereas US Route 62 and Ohio Route 73 are both southerly diagonal routes, Ohio Route 247 meets the demand for those aiming to go straight south out of Hillsboro, into Adams County. It crosses Ohio Route 32 at Seaman. Farther south, it meets Ohio Route 41 at West Union. Finally, Ohio Route 247 proceeds a short distance beyond US Route 52 to end at the riverside hamlet of Wrightsville (this river is the Ohio River).
