Ohio State Route 598 is a north-south highway in north-central Ohio, running from Galion to a point near Willard. It's a consistently rural route with a slight northeast-southwest tilt. The southern end is a fairly busy intersection on the near west side of Galion, where Ohio Routes 19, 61, and 309 all meet. Ohio Routes 61 and 309 both come from the east and turn southerly with Ohio Route 19 also coming from the east but continuing west. This explains the southern, eastern, and western legs of the interchange; the northern leg is the beginning of Ohio Route 598. From there, Ohio Route 598 runs north-northeasterly to New Haven, where it meets US Route 224. The highway continues north for only another mile and a half, ending at a junction with Ohio Route 103 lying a couple miles east of Willard.
My photo for Ohio Route 598 comes from the southern end in Galion, at the intersection with the complex configuration of state highways I described earlier. The sign assembly here faces east, positioned at the northwest corner of the intersection. Based on the information presented on these signs, Ohio Route 19 continues forward, Ohio Route 61 turns left toward the south, and Ohio Route 309 also turns left toward the south. Ohio Route 598 begins to the right. This photo was taken during the final day of the tour of northeast Ohio in October 2022; I was basically on my way home from Ashland, Ohio, at this point.
