Ohio State Route 73 is a route in southwestern and south-central Ohio. The route runs east from Oxford to Wilmington, and then it bends southeast to connect Wilmington to Portsmouth. The central intersection of Oxford is where Ohio Route 73 begins. It heads east along US Route 27, which came from the west out of Indiana; Ohio Route 732 runs north-south through the junction. Ohio Route 73 soon splits from US Route 27, which straightens out toward the south. Ohio Route 73 passes through Trenton to turn north along Ohio Route 4 through Middletown. Ohio Route 73 splits from Ohio Route 4 to run through Franklin and Springfield to Wilmington, where the route becomes an expressway bypass around the northeast side of town. This is where Ohio Route 73 bends toward the southeast. It heads diagonally through Hillsboro. In Adams County and Scioto County, Ohio Route 73 winds through some topography. Ohio Route 73 meets Ohio Route 104 on the west side of the Scioto River, and they join together toward the south. Ohio Route 73 doesn't bend back toward the east until the very lowest point of the Scioto River, where a bridge carries it across. Then, Ohio Route 73 ends at US Route 23 in downtown Portsmouth.
My photo of Ohio State Route 73 comes from its 4-way intersection with Ohio Route 380 just west of Wilmington. Ohio Route 73's interchange with Interstate 71 is a block to the west, and it's visible in the background of this photo. That's because this photo looks west at a westbound trailblazer seen by those turning off of Ohio Route 380. This photo was taken in February 2017, as I was driving southwest down the Interstate 71 corridor from Columbus.
