Interstate 471 stems southeasterly out of downtown Cincinnati toward Newport and Highland Heights, Kentucky. The northern end occurs as Interstate 471 splits from Interstate 71 on the east side of downtown Cincinnati. The freeway makes a break for Kentucky via a bridge over the Ohio River right away, making for very little distance covered by Interstate 471 in the state of Ohio. The southeastern end of Interstate 471 is an interchange near Highland Heights in Kentucky, with Interstate 275. (Of course, that's technically outside of the state boundaries of Ohio.)
