Wisconsin Highway 111 is a short route in Price County, Wisconsin. In the woods of north-central Wisconsin, Wisconsin Highway 111 begins along US Route 8. From there, it runs northward and northeastward to form a sort of quarter-circle around the junction of US Route 8 and Wisconsin Highway 13. Because Wisconsin Highway 13's northward progression is interrupted by a jog to the northwest when it gets north of US Route 8, those coming from the north to go west are faced with an inefficient route. That's where Highway 111 comes in; it provides a shortcut between the north leg of Highway 13 and the west leg of US Route 8. Anyway, Wisconsin Highway 111 runs for about nine miles before it ends at Highway 13, at a point close to the town of Phillips.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 111 shows a junction marker seen by those heading northward on Wisconsin Highway 13. The sign faces south at a point well north of US Route 8, but only a few miles south of the village of Phillips. This photo was taken in August 2020, as I was heading north toward Ashland on a trip that would mainly focus on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
