^Looking north from the junction with Highway 154 in Rock Springs, July 2025.
Wisconsin Highway 136 is a minor east-west highway between Baraboo and Reedsburg. Because Wisconsin Highway 33 also serves Baraboo and Reedsburg, Wisconsin Highway 136 can be seen as an alternate to Highway 33, used to serve the town of Rock Springs, which lies in between those two towns. Wisconsin Highway 136 starts at Reedsburg and heads south through a series of curves to the town of Rock Springs. In Rock Springs, Highway 136 turns easterly at the point where Highway 154 reaches its eastern terminus. From there, Highway 136 continues to Baraboo, where it meets US Route 12 and Wisconsin Highway 33 on the west edge of town. Highway 136 isn't quite done yet, though; it turns south on the former US Route 12 to an eastbound spur into Devil's Lake State Park. That eastbound spur was formerly Wisconsin Highway 159, until some point in the last decade. The entrance to the state park is where Highway 136 officially ends, at this point in time.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 136 shows the northward-facing trailblazer that announces the northwestern beginning of Highway 136. Those leaving the roundabout with Wisconsin Highways 23 and 33 will see this scene if they exit toward the south. This photo was taken at the east edge of Reedsburg in July 2025, on my way to more northerly locales in western Wisconsin. Back to the Michigan main page. Back to the home page.
