^Looking west beyond the split with Wisconsin Highway 89 in Waterloo, February 2022.
Wisconsin Highway 19 runs east-west between Mazomanie and Watertown in south-central Wisconsin. You will find it skirting the Madison area to the north. The western beginning splits from US Route 14 on the west side of Mazomanie, where US Route 14 bends toward the southeast. Wisconsin Highway 19 picks up those motorists who want to maintain an easterly course. The first ten miles of Wisconsin Highway 19, west of Waunakee, are actually pretty curvy. But the road becomes tamer in Waunakee, where motorists on Highway 19 will encounter Wisconsin Highway 113. After that, Wisconsin Highway 19 continues east to Interstates 39, 90, and 94, intersecting US Route 51 shortly after the interchange with the triplicate Interstate. Next, Highway 19 encounters US Route 151 in Sun Prairie. Wisconsin Highway 19 is a two-lane rural highway east of here, serving the villages of Marshall and Waterloo. Finally, Wisconsin Highway 19 passes through downtown Waterloo, ending by merging with the four-laned Wisconsin Highway 16 on the east side of town.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 19 is from the town of Waterloo, where this highway encounters Wisconsin Highway 89. The aperture looks west toward the point where the two routes split apart. As Highway 89 comes from the southeast, it joins Highway 19 westward for a short spell before it turns northerly. The guide marker shows that this turn is about to occur here in downtown Waterloo. This photo was taken in February 2022 during the trip to interior eastern Wisconsin. Back to the Michigan main page.
