Wisconsin Highway 25 is a pretty important north-south thoroughfare in the western part of Wisconsin, sometimes called the "Indian Head" of the state. The highway enters Wisconsin on a Mississippi River bridge stemming northward out of Wabasha, Minnesota. After that point of beginning, Wisconsin Highway 25 heads northward through Nelson. Next, it serves Durand, county seat of Pepin County. In Durand, Wisconsin Highway 25 jogs west along US Highway 10 to cross the Chippewa River. Highway 25 turns back northward on the west side of the river, and it heads for Menomonie. Wisconsin Highway 25 is the main north-south artery through Menomonie. When it's done serving Menomonie, it sets its sights for Barron by way of Wheeler, Wisconsin. Highway 25 meets US Highway 8 in Barron, but it's not quite done yet. It continues north to end at Wisconsin Highway 48, at a point just west of Rice Lake.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 25 is this trailblazer for northbound traffic who just split away from US Route 10. This split is an intersection on the west bank of the Chippewa River, just across the bridge from downtown Durand, Wisconsin. This photo was taken in July 2025 during my trip around western Wisconsin. Back to the Michigan main page. Back to the home page.
