Wisconsin Highway 28 is an east-west highway in eastern Wisconsin. Of the three routes that originate in Sheboygan, Wisconsin Highway 28 is the one aiming toward the southwest. The other two routes are Wisconsin Highway 23, which heads straight toward the west, and Wisconsin Highway 42, which heads northwesterly. Wisconsin Highway 28 passes through Nobel and Cascade, and aims for West Bend. Before it can reach West Bend, it bounces toward the west, producing Wisconsin Highway 144 and sending it to continue as a spur to West Bend (and beyond). Wisconsin Highway 28's next section goes westward to Kewaskum, Theresa, and Mayville. The final piece of the route moves southwestward out of Mayville to end in Horicon, at Wisconsin Highway 33.

My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 28 comes from Kewaskum, where the route joins US Route 45 for a short spell. The signage shown in the photo confirms to drivers that they have joined the concurrency of both routes, and that they are heading northward. Wisconsin Highway 28's westward progression requires this jog toward the north. This photo was taken in February 2022.
