^Wisconsin 44 looking south from the split with Wisconsin 91 on the outskirts of Oshkosh, February 2022.
Wisconsin Highway 44 is a highway running southwesterly from Oshkosh to portions of south-central Wisconsin. This Wisconsin State Highway begins at US Route 45 in the heart of Oshkosh, and it starts off moving southwesterly past Interstate 41. The next major community encountered by Highway 44 is Ripon, where it meets Wisconsin Highway 23. Upon reaching Ripon, Highway 44 turns southward, joining Wisconsin Highway 49. About seven miles south of Ripon, Highway 44 splits from Wisconsin Highway 49 to go west. Highway 44 winds its way westward through towns like Fairwater, Markesan, and Kingston. At Kingston, Highway 44 dives southwestward toward Pardeeville, where the route ends at Wisconsin Highway 22.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 44 is found near its interchange with Interstate 41. This interchange is on the southwest side of Oshkosh. People moving northeastward on Highway 44 use this sign to figure out how to join the travelers moving down Interstate 41. This photo was taken in December 2017 during a weekend drive to northeastern Wisconsin. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
