Wisconsin Highway 59 is an east-west route in southern Wisconsin. It runs between Monroe and Milwaukee. The eastern end in Milwaukee is at National Avenue and First Street, the latter of which carries Wisconsin Highway 32. From this point of origin just south of downtown Milwaukee, Highway 59 moves westerly along National Avenue. Emerging from the Milwaukee area requires Highway 59 to navigate the bypass around Waukesha to the south; this bypass also carries US Route 18 and Wisconsin Highway 164. Highway 59 splits from the bypass on the southwest side of Waukesha, and it continues southwest toward Whitewater. Highway 59 takes an asinine route through Whitewater, turning in all kinds of odd directions, but it finally shakes out of the town's southwest side, bound for Milton. It continues east to Edgerton, and after that, it joins US Route 14 toward the south. As US Route 14 curves southeasterly in Evansville, Highway 59 jumps ship, using Highway 213 south to a new westward alignment. The last stretch of Wisconsin Highway 59 wiggles its way south and west to end in Monroe at Wisconsin Highway 11.

My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 59 comes from Whitewater, where the highway comes from the north to join US Route 12 toward the west. Highway 59 comes from the northeast, heads southwest, turns east and southeast, then joins US Route 12 west. This sign shows travelers that the concurrency has just begun. This photo was taken in February 2022 on my way to Shawano and other areas in eastern Wisconsin.
