^Looking north from the southern end of Wisconsin 69 at the Illinois state line, October 2016.
Wisconsin Highway 69 is a north-south route in far southern Wisconsin. It begins in Verona, a southwestern suburb of Madison, and it continues south to Monroe and the Illinois state line. Wisconsin Highway 69 is also known for serving New Glarus and Belleville. The northern end of Highway 69, along the southern edge of Verona, is at the expressway bypass used by US Route 18 and US Route 151. From there, Highway 69 goes south through Belleville to New Glarus, where it meets the eastern end of Wisconsin Highway 39. The next destination for Wisconsin Highway 69 is Monroe, where it jogs west along Wisconsin Highway 11 for a mile. It diverges from Highway 11 to head south through downtown Monroe. Just north of Orangeville, Illinois, Wisconsin Highway 69 ends by becoming Illinois Route 26 at the state line.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 69 is a close-up shot of the first northbound trailblazer seen by those crossing the state line out of Illinois. This photo was taken in October 2016, on a day trip to areas of southwestern Wisconsin. Back to the Michigan main page. Back to the home page.
