^Looking north from the Howard Avenue interchange, July 2018.
Wisconsin Highway 794 is a southern extension to the Interstate 794 freeway that stems southerly out of downtown Milwaukee. Interstate 794 reaches southerly to the Port of Milwaukee and the area around the ferry terminal, but the highway isn't done yet. This is merely the end of the Interstate-standard portion of the highway, which continues as Wisconsin Highway 794. The highway continues as an expressway for about another four miles, into Cudahy. The expressway ends as Wisconsin Highway 794 turns right onto Pennsylvania Avenue. The state highway designation continues slightly farther south, to end at College Avenue. This southern terminus is very near the southeast corner of the Mitchell Airport property.
My photo of a route marker for Wisconsin Highway 794 is a guide marker found on College Avenue. Eastbound travelers on this street know, thanks to this sign, that reaching Highway 794 involves nothing more than continuing along the road ahead. This photo was taken in July 2018, touring around the Milwaukee area. Back to the Wisconsin main page. Back to the home page.
