^Wisconsin 83 continues north from the point where it crosses Wisconsin 36, and it picks up a concurrency with Wisconsin 20, October 2022.

Wisconsin Highway 83 is a north-south highway running for about 65 miles in southeastern Wisconsin. It begins north of Hartford by splitting from Wisconsin Highway 175, which parallels Interstate 41. Predictably, Wisconsin Highway 83's first goal on its southward journey is to head to Hartford. Highway 83 moves through Hartford and then goes to Hartland, a similarly-named town along Wisconsin Highway 16. Next, Highway 83 continues south past Interstate 94 west of Waukesha. It crosses US Route 18 near Wales, on its way to Mukwonago, where it meets Interstate 43. At Mukwonago, Wisconsin Highway 83 bends southeastward to Waterford, where it joins Wisconsin Highway 36 southwest to Burlington. The rest of Wisconsin Highway 83 splits from Wisconsin Highway 36 to go south, turns east along Wisconsin Highway 50, and turns south to become Illinois Route 83 at the state line.
