Indiana State Route 2 runs west out of South Bend, then diving southwesterly through Valparaiso to Lowell and the Illinois border.  The western end continues into Kankakee County, Illinois, as Illinois 17. The eastern end is at the freeway carrying US Route 20 and US Route 31 around the western side of South Bend.

My photo of Indiana 2 is at Indiana 55, where that route joins Indiana 2 west, just east of Lowell. The sign assembly sits on the northeast corner of the intersection, facing south to direct northbound traffic. This photo was taken in November 2015.

The first eastbound trailblazer seen by westbound travelers on Indiana 2, posted at the Illinois state line.

Indiana 2 meets Indiana 55. The westbound travelers encounter Indiana 55 as it joins from the south toward the west, at a junction east of Lowell.

US231 comes from the east and joins Indiana 2 south, along the jog interrupting its otherwise westward motion. This occurs in Hebron.

Indiana 2 crosses US Route 35 in La Porte. This photo shows signage read by westbound travelers on Indiana 2.

Just east of US Route 35, Indiana 2 encounters the northwestern endpoint of Indiana 4, still within downtown La Porte.

Indiana 2 finds itself at a ricochet junction with US Route 20 west of South Bend, but the ricochet junction is also an interchange..
