Ohio State Route 261 connects Wadsworth, Akron, Tallmadge, and Kent, in northeastern Ohio. As it progresses eastward, it often nudges northerly, or has a northeasterly component to its path. The western end in Wadsworth occurs at Ohio Route 94, on the near north side of town. From there, Ohio Route 261 heads east-northeastward to nudge north of Interstate 76; an interchange is provided where they cross. Ohio Route 261 meets Interstate 77 as it enters Akron, where Ohio Route 261 serves the downtown. It juts easterly to a pair of one-way streets that once carried US Route 21; it takes those streets north to an eastward road out of town. The eastward road leads to the central square of Tallmadge, where Ohio Route 261 interacts with Ohio Route 91. Instead of continuing easterly, it uses a northeasterly road out of Tallmadge so it can reach Kent. Ohio Route 261 turns easterly to bypass downtown Kent to the south. Finally, it bends northward to end on the east side of Kent, at Ohio Route 59.
My photo for Ohio State Route 261 comes from an intersection with Romig Road on the west side of Akron. Just after the sun rose on an October morning in 2022, I struggled to find a sign worthy of photographing in this area. Therefore, I settled for this picture with poor lighting. This photo shows an eastbound trailblazer that faces southwest; at this point, Ohio Route 261 has just made a left turn from eastbound to northeastward. The junction home to this trailblazer is just north of Interstate 76, and just west of Interstate 77. This photo was part of a big tour all around the northeastern quarter of Ohio.
