Ohio State Route 301 is a north-south highway where northeastern Ohio meets north-central Ohio. It runs in Lorain, Medina, and Wayne Counties. The northern end of Ohio Route 301 is at US Route 6, a block away from Lake Erie. From this point of beginning in the town of Sheffield Lake, Ohio Route 301 heads south to other areas in the western reaches of the Cleveland suburbs. It runs across the east side of Elyria before jogging southwest along US Route 20 for a short distance. On the south side of Elyria, Ohio Route 301 breaks away from US Route 20 to continue south. Ohio Route 301 serves the small rural towns of LaGrange, Spencer, and West Salem, where it crosses US Route 42 and creates the northern beginning of Ohio Route 539. Seven miles beyond West Salem, Ohio Route 301 ends at Ohio Route 302.
My photo of Ohio Route 301 comes from its crossing of US Route 42 in West Salem. The trailblazer shown in the photo greets those who turn northward off of US Route 42, and it shows them the consequences of their choices: they're heading north on Ohio Route 301 now! This photo was taken during the northeastern Ohio tour of October 2022. Back to Ohio Routes 300-499. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
