^Northern end at Interstate 35-80 in Des Moines's northern fringes, February 2016.
Iowa Route 28 is a short north-south highway in the Des Moines area and points nearby to the south of it. The northern end is at the east-west portion of the concurrency shared by Interstates 35 and 80, in the northwest corner of Des Moines. From there, Iowa Route 28 heads south along the western edge of Des Moines's city limits. The highway then exits Des Moines crossing the east-west freeway carrying Iowa Route 5 near the Des Moines Airport. Iowa Route 28 passes through Norwalk, Iowa, and then ends at Iowa Route 92 in Martensdale, just east of Interstate 35. Iowa Route 28 is about 21 miles long.
My photo for Iowa Route 28 comes from the northern end of the route, which occurs at an interchange with Interstates 35 and 80. The context for my Iowa Route 28 shield image on the menu page is actually the northern end marker itself, shown here. I took this photo as I was traversing Iowa to get to Omaha in February 2016.
