Ohio State Route 179 connects Hayesville to Nashville, in Ashland and Holmes Counties. Since both ends are at Ohio Route 60, it may be used as an alternate to Ohio Route 60. The northwestern end in Hayesville is just south of where Ohio Route 60 links with US Route 30, by way of a diamond interchange. Ohio Route 179 starts out facing eastward, but it soon bends southeasterly. Just before crossing into Holmes County, it turns toward the south. The county line crossing is quickly followed by a junction with Ohio Route 3, where Ohio Route 226 begins. Ohio Route 226 follows Ohio Route 179 for a short bit, but soon, Ohio Route 179 will grant Ohio Route 226 its independence. Ohio Route 179 continues south to the west side of Nashville, Ohio, where it ends at the concurrency shared between Ohio Route 60 and Ohio Route 39.
My photo of Ohio State Route 179 comes from the southern end on the western edge of Nashville, Ohio. Travelers moving westward on Ohio Routes 39 and 60 will use the guide marker in the photo to identify the location of the right turn onto Ohio Route 179. This photo was taken in October 2022, during the grand tour of the northeastern quarter of Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 100-199. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
