Ohio State Route 18 runs east-west across northern Ohio, from Akron west to the Indiana border. It's one of the longer Ohio state highways. Ohio Route 18 gets its start as Indiana State Route 8 crosses the state line, near Hicksville, Ohio. In northwestern Ohio, Ohio Route 18 goes east with periodic jogs toward the south. This easterly pathing with many slight jogs to the south takes Ohio Route 18 through towns like Defiance, Fostoria, and Tiffin. At Republic, Ohio, Ohio Route 18 veers northeasterly to Bellevue and Norwalk. But at Norwalk, the route starts following the same pattern as before, occasionally drifting south as it continues east. Ohio Route 18 serves as the main east-west route through Medina. Then, at Fairlawn, Ohio Route 18 heads diagonally east-southeasterly through Akron. It emerges on the other side of downtown Akron, but doesn't last much longer. The eastern end of the route occurs at Ohio Route 91 in the Ellet neighborhood on Akron's east side.
My photo of Ohio State Route 18 signage shows a scene in Bellevue, Ohio, where Ohio Route 269 meets Ohio Route 18. The signage depicted faces south for northbound drivers on Ohio Route 269. At this four-way intersection, Ohio Route 18 is concurrent with US Route 20; this concurrency ends a block west of this photo. I took this photo on the northwestern Ohio trip involving the Lake Erie Islands in October 2023.
