Ohio State Route 256 is an east-west highway in the eastern Columbus suburbs and points east of there. Its western end curls toward the north, meeting US Route 40 in Reynoldsburg. From this ending, Ohio Route 256 heads south-southeasterly past Interstate 70 and Ohio Route 204 to Pickerington, where it turns toward the east. The rest of Ohio Route 256 is an easterly journey into farm country. It passes through Baltimore and Thurston, intersection Ohio Route 37 in between those towns. As Ohio Route 256 approaches Somerset, Ohio Route 13 drops in from the north to take over as the easterly highway into Somerset. The junction with Ohio Route 13 is where Ohio Route 256 ends.
My photo for Ohio State Route 256 signage comes from the eastern terminus at Ohio Route 13. At this intersection, Ohio Route 13 is curving from westerly to northerly, and travelers following that curve will see the sign in the photo, telling them that a left turn at this spot will lead to the eastern beginning of Ohio Route 256. This photo was taken in March 2021, in a late stage of my tour around the southeastern quarter of Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 200-299. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
