US Route 270 runs from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, west and northwest to Liberal, Kansas. US Route 270's eastern end is at Interstate 530, concurrent with US Route 65, at an interchange near Pine Bluff. US Route 270 heads west from there, staying south of Little Rock, through central Arkansas, west-central Arkansas, east-central Oklahoma, and portions of central Oklahoma, to join Interstate 40 west through Oklahoma City. West of Oklahoma City, US Route 270 diverts northwesterly to northwestern Oklahoma, using US Route 83 to jump north from the Oklahoma panhandle to Liberal, Kansas. The northwestern endpoint is at US Route 83's junction at US Route 54. Every piece of US Route 270 northwest of Woodward, Oklahoma, is duplicitous, overlapping some other route. There's probably no real reason why US Route 270 needs to continue anywhere northwest of Woodward.
My photo of US Route 270 shows a sign assembly that sits in Sheridan, Arkansas, a town south of Little Rock and west of Pine Bluff. The sign assembly faces south toward northbound traffic on US Route 167's business alignment through town. I took this photo along the return trip from my first Gulf Coast excursion in October 2014. Chronologically, this was the 69th photo I took for my collection (nice). Back to the nationwide main page. Back to the home page.
