Ohio State Route 579 is an east-west highway east of Toledo, located in northeastern Wood County and northwestern Ottawa County. The eastern beginning occurs as a westbound Ohio Route 2 diverts to the north to a new latitude; in its wake, Ohio Route 579 continues westward, passing through the tiny town of Williston. After eleven miles, Ohio Route 579 finds itself in the outskirts of Toledo, ending at Ohio Route 51 near Northwood. This western terminus occurs just barely southeast of Ohio Route 51's interchange with Interstate 280.
My photo for Ohio Route 579 shows the western beginning at Northwood, Ohio. The first eastbound trailblazer is pictured here. Travelers on Ohio Route 51 will see this sign as soon as they turn onto Ohio Route 579. This photo was taken during the Toledo detour of October 2016, as I took a convoluted way home from a visit to West Virginia.
