Indiana State Route 48 exists in three separate segments, roughly at the same latitude. The western segment runs from Indiana Route 63 west of Shelburn, east to Indiana Route 157 at Worthington. The central segment is a small connection between Interstate 69 in Bloomington and Indiana Route 43 to the west. The eastern segment runs from US Route 421, at the tiny town of Napoleon, east to US Route 50 at Lawrenceburg.

My photo of Indiana State Route 48 is along the eastern segment, as part of a sign assembly facing south down Indiana State Route 129. This is nearly ten miles south of Batesville.
