^Signage indicating Michigan Highway 3's left turn from Gratiot Avenue onto Randolph Street, in downtown Detroit, April 2021.
Michigan Highway 3 follows Gratiot Avenue northeasterly out of downtown Detroit to Chesterfield, an outlying suburb. The southernmost extent makes a southerly turn on to Randolph Avenue toward the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. At Jefferson Street, Michigan Highway 3 gets its start along Randolph; the southern end of Interstate 375 is right by this intersection, too. Michigan Highway 3 runs north on Randolph to turn northeasterly along Gratiot. Gratiot takes Highway 3 through Detroit's east side, plus Eastpointe, Roseville, and Mount Clemens. The northeastern end is at an interchange with Interstate 94 that also serves as the southwestern endpoint of Michigan Highway 29.
My photo of Michigan Highway 3 markers comes from the intersection of Michigan Highways 3 and 59, between Mount Clemens and Chesterfield. This guide assembly faces west to eastbound travelers on Michigan Highway 59. This photo was taken in April 2021, during the trip to Detroit and the Thumb.
Here is another photo of Michigan Highway 3:
