Ohio State Route 761 is a four-mile north-south route in Guernsey and Noble Counties. The route spurs southerly out of Salesville to the north side of Senecaville Lake. The northern end in Salesville is at Ohio Route 265. Farther to the south, a skinny northeastern bay protruding out of Senecaville Lake causes Ohio Route 313 to go out of its way. Ohio Route 313 has to divert northerly from its otherwise westward the course. At the northern extent of this diversion, Ohio Route 313 will turn from northerly to southwesterly around the long, skinny bay. At this sharp turn, a traveler might continue north instead of making the turn to stay on Ohio Route 313. Any traveler doing that would find themselves on the southern beginning of Ohio Route 761.
My photo for Ohio Route 761 comes from the southern beginning, at Ohio Route 313. As Ohio Route 313 wraps around the northern shore of Senecaville Lake, it makes a sharp left turn from northerly to westerly. The trailblazer shown here, for Ohio Route 761, greets anyone who decides to go straight, rather than making the left turn to stay on Ohio Route 313. In other words, we're looking north from the southern terminus of Ohio Route 761. This photo was taken in March 2021, during my elaborate tour of the southeastern quarter of Ohio.
