Ohio State Route 61 runs north-south in central and north-central Ohio. Ohio Route 61 begins along Lake Erie, at US Route 6 east of Huron. It runs south to serve the village of Berlin Heights before joining Ohio Route 113 southwest into Norwalk. From Norwalk, Ohio Route 61 heads south, jutting westward every so often so it can reach Galion. It meets US Route 42 and Ohio Route 95 in Mount Gilead, in Morrow County. Finally, Ohio Route 61 enters eastern Delaware County, where it ends at US Route 36, a route concurrent with Ohio Route 3, in Sunbury.
My photo of Ohio State Route 61 comes from the southern end in Sunbury. Travelers turning off of US Route 36, concurrent with Ohio Route 3, will see this first trailblazer as they begin to face northward. This photo was taken in October 2022, as I was setting out toward the northeast from Columbus; this trip would become my grand tour of northeastern Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 1 through 99.
