Ohio State Route 287 is a jagged east-west highway in southeastern Logan County. It sort of connects the towns of West Liberty and East Liberty, but the route doesn't quite make it to either town. The western end of Ohio Route 287 comes as Ohio Route 245 is leaving West Liberty toward the east. Two miles east of town, Ohio Route 245 jerks toward the south, leaving Ohio Route 287 to pick up the slack as the eastbound highway. After six miles, Ohio Route 287 turns northeasterly. After another five miles, Ohio Route 287 reaches US Route 33, but no interchange is provided right away. Instead, Ohio Route 287 turns southeasterly along a frontage road, that continues northwest as Ohio Route 347. After a few miles on the frontage road, Ohio Route 287 turns northeasterly to an interchange with US Route 33, that is shared with the southern end of Ohio Route 739. This is where Ohio Route 287 ends.
My photo for Ohio State Route 287 signage comes from the eastern end, which is the interchange with US Route 33. The sign assembly shown faces travelers on the westbound offramp from US Route 33. It tells those travelers that Ohio Route 287 is reached by a turn to the left, whereas Ohio Route 739 is reached by a turn toward the right. It's pretty plain to see by looking at this photo that Ohio Route 287 and Ohio Route 739 share a terminus here. This photo was taken on Leap Day 2016, as I was coming home from Columbus using the US Route 33 corridor. Back to Ohio Routes 200-299. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
