US Route 302 runs from Montpelier, Vermont, east and southeast to Portland, Maine. The western end is at US Route 2 on the east side of Montpelier, the state capital. In eastern Vermont and New Hampshire, it lies a bit south of US Route 2. It makes a more southeasterly turn after it crosses from New Hampshire into Maine. The eastern end in Portland is at an interchange with a freeway carrying the dual designations of Interstate 295 and US Route 1. US Route 302 really only connects to rural areas and small towns between its two endpoints.
My photo for US Route 302 comes from Naples, Maine, about a half-hour's drive from the New Hampshire border. The sign assembly faces east, showing westbound travelers that Maine State Route 35 turns to the north, while US Route 302 and Maine State Route 11 continue their newly-formed concurrency westward. This photo was taken as part of the Northeast trip in October, 2015. Back to the nationwide main page. Back to the home page.
