US Route 33 in Indiana is a diagonal northwest-southeast route from Elkhart to Fort Wayne and beyond, toward Columbus, Ohio. Indiana is the northwesternmost state that US Route 33 reaches. The northwestern end of the generally diagonal US highway is at US Route 20's freeway section on the south side of Elkhart, Indiana. From there, US Route 33 heads southeast to Fort Wayne, where it uses Interstate 69 south and Interstate 469 east to bypass the city. Past Fort Wayne, US Route 33 joins US Route 27 south to Decatur, then splits easterly into Ohio, where US Route 33 reaches places like Wapakoneta and Columbus.
