Indiana State Route 156 is a more scenic alternate for Indiana Route 56 in southeastern Indiana, along the Ohio River; each end of Indiana Route 156 is at Indiana Route 56. The southwest end is in Vevay, and northeast end is just south of Rising Sun. A previous photo served as the focal point for this page, and as the source for the shield image that appears on the Indiana menu page. A new photo, shown next, replaces that previous photo, but the older photo is still visible at the bottom of this page.
My photo for Indiana Route 156 shows a westbound trailblazer seen by those coming off the bridge over the Ohio River, between Florence, Indiana, and Warsaw, Kentucky. That bridge is signed as a non-contiguous bit of Indiana Route 101. Looking to the west, as the aperture did when taking this photo, the Ohio River is just to the left. This photo was taken in August 2024, as I was meandering toward the Cincinnati area.
The former photo for Indiana Route 156 appears next.
This older photo for Indiana State Route 156 signage shows the eastbound junction marker on Indiana Route 56, where Route 56 approaches the northeastern end of Route 156. You can see some of the Ohio River in the background of the photo. At the junction, Route 56 turns from easterly to northerly.
