Ohio State Route 111 runs southwest from Defiance to Paulding and the Indiana border. The route is unsurprisingly found only in Defiance and Paulding Counties, in northwestern Ohio. In Defiance, Ohio Routes 15, 18 and 66 come from the north, crossing the Maumee River. The southern course of the triplicate bends toward the east in downtown Defiance, but the road continues south as Ohio Route 111, which soon bends toward the southwest. The first piece of Ohio Route 111 follows the northwestern bank of the Auglaize River. Soon, it turns westward into farm country, away from the river. Next, it joins US Route 127 south into Paulding. In Paulding, Ohio Route 111 turns westerly to leave town into a rural area. The last ten miles of Ohio Route 111 are strictly rural, ending at the Indiana border just east of Woodburn, Indiana.
My photo of Ohio State Route 111 signage shows a pair of trailblazers on the north side of Paulding, where Ohio Route 111 is joined with US Route 127. Travelers leaving Paulding toward the north will see this pair of trailblazers as the speed limit begins to increase. This photo was taken as I was taking an indirect route home from Columbus along US Route 127 in September 2017. Back to Ohio Routes 100-199. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
