Ohio State Route 165 is a route in Mahoning County, Ohio, with the eastern end diving southeasterly into Columbiana County. It heads northward, then eastward, then southeastward. Ohio Route 165 begins at US Route 62 and Ohio Route 173, a concurrent pair of routes near Beloit. Ohio Route 165 heads north through Beloit. The northward progression lasts for three miles before Ohio Route 165 turns easterly. Ohio Route 165 bypasses Salem to the north, insisting on rural territory. The route heads due east for almost twenty miles, before it reaches a point south of Boardman where it bends southeasterly. The southeasterly phase of the route passes through New Springfield to reach East Palestine. It joins Ohio Route 170 south into East Palestine, and at the center of town, it turns easterly toward the Pennsylvania border. Ohio Route 165 ends at the state line, becoming Taggart Road.
My photo of Ohio State Route 165 shows an eastbound trailblazer seen at the junction with Ohio Route 7. This is at North Lima, a town south of Boardman. Travelers leaving the 4-way intersection toward the east will notice the trailblazer shown in the picture. This photo was taken in October 2022, during the grand tour of northeastern Ohio.
