Ohio State Route 754 is a short north-south highway in northwestern Holmes County, that fills in a noteworthy gap in the state highway network. A long alignment comprised of Ohio Routes 226 and 514 runs southwest between Wooster and Danville, passing through the town of Shreve. At Shreve, Ohio Route 226 turns westerly, forming Ohio Route 514 to serve those who wish to continue southwest. But what if people want to go south or southeast from Shreve? What if people on Ohio Route 60 want to continue north instead of joining Ohio Route 39 west to Nashville? Ohio Route 754 is here to answer these questions (prayers?). Ohio Route 754 begins at Ohio Route 514 just a mile south of Ohio Route 514's beginning in Shreve. Ohio Route 754 runs south-southeast from there for seven miles, ending at the intersection where Ohio Route 60 and Ohio Route 39 converge, halfway between Nashville and Millersburg. At this southern terminus, Ohio Route 60 comes from the south to join Ohio Route 39 west, while Ohio Route 754 occupies the northern leg of the signalized intersection.
My photo for Ohio Route 754 signage comes from its northern terminus at Ohio Route 514, just south of Shreve and Ohio Route 226. The aperture looks southwest along Ohio Route 514, at a sign that points out the location of the slight left turn onto Ohio Route 754. This photo was taken during the northeastern Ohio tour of October 2022.
